About the Role

As an ML Research Engineer, you'll work on building and improving coding LLMs, inference systems, and AI-powered developer experiences.

Whether joining as an intern or full-time engineer, you'll contribute directly to model training, evaluation, inference optimization, and AI product development. This is a highly technical role for candidates passionate about machine learning, developer tools, and AI research.

What You'll Work On

  • Fine-tune and evaluate coding-focused large language models
  • Improve model performance, inference speed, and reliability
  • Develop AI-powered coding and autocomplete experiences
  • Build evaluation frameworks for code generation and developer workflows
  • Work on model training pipelines and inference infrastructure
  • Collaborate on AI features integrated into JetBrains IDEs
  • Research and implement state-of-the-art techniques in LLMs and code intelligence

Requirements

  • Strong programming skills in Python
  • Solid understanding of Machine Learning fundamentals
  • Strong problem-solving and software engineering abilities
  • Interest in LLMs, AI systems, and developer tools
  • Ability to build and ship production-quality software

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with machine learning research or model training
  • Familiarity with LLM fine-tuning, inference, or evaluation
  • Experience with Kotlin, IDE plugins, or developer tooling
